More Tactical Knives

The Hunter-Killer is a multipurpose design that is as at home on a deer hunt as it is in combat. Shown here with a 5-1/2” CPM-3V blade that offers lots of belly for skinning, and a sharpened swedge for back-cutting, and enough point for anything else. The handle is presentation grade Desert Ironwood. The price in 154CM and standard handle materials is $375. In CPM-3V or S30V it is $450.

Designed for the James Keating school of modern bowie fighting, the Guarded Duelist is the ultimate fighting knife. The unique, double guard system provides excellent protection as well as means for trapping and disarming an opponent’s weapon with an easy flip of the wrist. Shown here with a CPM-3V blade length of over 12”, the total weight is a remarkable 15 oz, making this one of the lightest and fastest knives of its kind ever built. With standard handle materials, the price is $750 in CPM-3V or S30V, $650 in 154CM.

The Duelist is pure fighter. With blades ranging in lengths of 9-13”, with fully sharpened edges top and bottom, the Duelist provides the knife fighter with a weapon that is both fast and remarkably tough. Using very deep hollow grinds, the central spine retains a full 3/16” thickness to within 2” of its point, while the heavy, convex primary edge is prepared to meet and deal with impacts that would destroy lesser blades. Whether dressed for show as it is here with stabilized Giraffe bone or with a more subdued and utilitarian Micarta handle, the Duelist is a powerful weapon. In CPM-3V or S30V steel, the price is $600, or $500 in 154CM.

Designed expressly for an undercover Narcotics Agent, the 4” Narc (8” OAL) is the ideal concealed carry blade. Carried in a horizontal position on the back on the belt, the Narc can be drawn in either forward or reverse grips — even with the arms pinned. The novel handle nests firmly in the palm of the hand for push dagger-like support in hard thrusts, and is equally secure in reverse or ice pick grips. Shown here with optional stabilized Redwood burl handle and serrations, the Narc is priced at $250 in 154CM and $325 in S30V or CPM-3V.

In blade lengths over 7” the Ranger is similar to the Hunter-Killer, but in  a larger and somewhat heavier knife. Here with an 8-1/2” 154CM blade and sporting a stabilized Giraffe bone handle, the Ranger performs most all of the tasks for which bowie knives were designed, but in a more modern styling. The price in 154CM and a standard handle is $425. In CPM-3V or S30V it is $500.

There are few knives with more pleasing lines than a Traditional Tanto. I do about a half dozen of these every year, and they disappear fast at shows. The blade here is about 7” with an OAL of 13”. The price with exhibition quality wood and a contrasting bolster is $450 in CPM-3V or S30V, $400 in 154CM.
